Cranberry Orange Bread

It's that time of year again where fresh cranberries can be found everywhere. Nanny (my great grandma on my dad's side of the family) use to make Cranberry Orange bread every year during the holidays. The bread is completely addicting and too good not to share! It also makes a wonderful gift for neighbors and friends.
Cranberry Orange Bread

• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 cup butter
• 1 egg
• The zest of one orange
• 3/4 cup orange juice
• 1 cup cranberries
• 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

• Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
• Beat the egg, butter, sugar and juice together. Mix all dry ingredients and add to mixture; beat until well combined. Stir in cranberries by hand (add nuts if desired).
• Pour into loaf pan and bake 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on a cooling rack before removing from the pan.

I bought the above ceramic mini loaf pan at Michaels for $1 with the recipe above you can make three mini loafs and they make super cute gifts!

How to Tie a Scarf: The Bow

 The bow is my absolute favorite way to wear a scarf. It is a very feminine look, and definitely is a cheap and chic alternative to the bow tie blouse that is very popular right now. Check out my other scarf tutorials; the boa, the hidden knot, twisted european loop and fancy european loop

My Favorite Holiday Scents

I am a firm believer in celebrating one holiday at a time.  Every year after Thanksgiving dinner I put up my Christmas tree. Once the tree is up I light some of my favorite holiday scents. Usually I stick to the classics; peppermint and vanilla. However this year I have added some other scents such as gingerbread and winter. What is your favorite scent for the holidays?

Gift Idea
Pair the Gingerbread Candle from Bath and Body Works with the Gingerbread Man Metal Candle Sleeve also from Bath and Body Works for a great gift idea! I am actually giving this as a hostess gift when I attend holiday parties.

Zoya Feel Winter 2011 (the most gorgeous collection EVER)

Feel is Zoya's new winter 2011 collection and it is filled with six brand new cream neautrals and let me tell you I am LOVING every single color. This year Zoya has killed the competition when it comes to polish collections. Earlier in the year Zoya released Intimate which was packed with stunning shades for the spring. Then came Touch a collection containing three nude polishes for any skin tone. I have been beyond impressed with Zoya this year and after this collection they are officially my favorite nail polish company. If you are looking for wintery feminine gorgeous collection Feel is for you!
{ this shows you what the colors truly look like}
Note: it has been really dark and gloomy out so some of my actual swatch pictures do not look exactly like the color. Use the above swatched wheel to get a more exact idea.
Kristen is a stunning snowy gray with a touch of blue. This is definitely a beautiful hue and will make you think of winter immediately. Two coats.
Carey is a gorgeous gray cream polish with the ever so slight periwinkle addition. The above picture is making it look more purple/blue when really it is more gray. Two coats.
Megan is a beautiful purple cream with a touch of gray. Megan is the perfect hue for a winters day. Two coats.
Kendal is a lavender cream polish with a touch of beige. This color is beyond beautiful and is actually on my nails right now. I have receive so many compliments on it too! Two coats.
Kennedy is a pinky beige cream polish that is simply amazing. It kind of reminds me of a ballerina shade. Two coats.
Avery is a stunning nude cream polish. This is one nude polish that will look gorgeous against any skin tone! A must have in every collection. Two coats.

Overall thoughts

{a package from home filled with snowmen}
It's the final weekend before the chaos of the holidays begins... are you ready? I will be spending the weekend picking up things for Thanksgiving dinner and cleaning and organizing my apartment so that Thanksgiving night I can switch my place from fall to winter/Christmas - I like to celebrate one holiday at a time. On a side note will you be going out for Black Friday? If so where are you going to be shopping at?

Martha Stewart Thanksgiving Tablescapes

With Thanksgiving next week I thought we could all use a little festive tablescape inspiration. I figured I would share with you some of my favorite place cards and tablescapes courtesy of Martha Stewart! What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year?

Skinny Brownies

My Skinny Funfetti Cupcakes were such a hit I just had to share with you my recipe for Skinny Brownies. The recipe is super simple - mix one can (12 ounces) of Diet Pepsi with one box of brownies and bake at 325 for 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. *note: I do not drink pop - I only use it in recipes. Therefore instead of buying a case and having cans I just buy a 20 oz. bottle at the grocery store and measure out 12 ounces. *

{I used a 9x9 inch glass pan for thicker brownies, but a 13x9 would work too.}
The brownies turn out moist and delicious!

Pine Cone Place Card

One thing I love about the holidays is creating a gorgeous tablescape. When I am deciding on my tablescape first I think of how I want my place cards to look. This Thanksgiving I decided on pine cone place holders. I gathered up large pine cones, made tags with my Sizzix Big Shot and secured the tags with a piece of raffia.

{Thanksgiving 2010 I used a pomegranate as the place card.}
