We started the evening with Firecracker Shrimp which was tempura
battered with a creamy sweet chili glaze on top. Absolutely AMAZING, and I
usually do not like shrimp. Having fresh with a kick really makes a difference.
A ordered the Applejack Sea Bass with sweet bourbon reduction, apples,
sun-dried cherries and wild rice risotto. This was his first experience with
sea bass, and he was really impressed by the taste and flavor.
I ordered the Planked Salmon with tarragon mustard glaze, roasted
vegetables and roasted redskins. Hands down the BEST salmon I have ever had.
If you know A and I you know we hardly ever pass up dessert. When you
celebrate your birthday at River Crab they hook you up with their homemade Vanilla
Bean Crème Brûlée, which consist of smooth and creamy custard with real vanilla
bean and a caramelized sugar crust. A asked the waiter if he could find a
candle so I could make a birthday wish and he came back with a pink one – even
the waiter knew my favorite color - ha. This Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée was the
BEST crème brûlée that I have EVER had, and I have had it made right in front
of me by a fancy pants French pastry chef in New Orleans before. If you go to
the River Crab I highly recommend ordering it for dessert, you will not regret
it and you can thank me later.
Key Lime Pie was on the menu, so if you have been reading
Fashion meets Food the past few months you may have figured out that A loves
key lime pie. The Key Lime Pie is made with their signature house recipe, fresh
key lime juice and a graham cracker crust.
