I love to entertain, from intimate get-togethers and
backyard barbeques to cocktail parties and holiday gatherings. After watching
my mum host many get-togethers there are some basic things I learned that have
helped me to become the hostess with the mostess. Here are some key elements to
creating an enjoyable time.
Ambiance. Use unscented candles at the table and scented
ones that compliment each other in the other rooms – don’t forget a scented
candle in the bathroom.
Apron. This is a necessity in order to save you from wearing the food .

Drinks. A signature cocktail and flavored water. I also like
to put fruit in ice cubes for a pretty presentation. Don’t forget drink charms or tags so everyone can easily
locate their drink. Cocktail napkins are a great addition as well.
Favors. No matter what the reason is for having guests over I make sure they never leave empty handed, this will either be a party themed favor or a friendship gift.
Sweets. They are a must at any gathering my favorites are cookies and cupcakes.
Table. I am a fan of tablescapes that coordinate with the theme.
Theme. Whenever I am entertaining I like to have a theme (i.e. nostalgic candy, bagel brunch, pink party) once you have a theme, the menu and party basically creates itself.
Vases. Filled with fresh flowers.

I love the idea of fruit in the ice cubes! So pretty. I usually just cup up limes and lemon slices.

ReplyDeleteI'm all about sweets and beautiful tablescapes at parties! And I love it that you always have a favor. This makes me wish I could host a party now. Living in an apartment isn't really suitable for hosting. This is why I can't wait until we get a house!! I have lots of party ideas already!
ReplyDeletethanks for these tips! they will definitely come in handy when i host a little get together in the future. :)
