Tea Towel Cake

I'm sure you've heard of diaper cakes given at baby showers, but how about this dish towel cake for your Mum for Mother's Day? I absolutely love it! My Mum actually taught me how to make this forever ago when I didn't know what to give a friend as a housewarming gift.  It makes a great Mother's Day or House Warming gift and it's so easy to create.

What you need
• hot glue gun and glue
• pins
• cake base board
• cardboard (I used cereal boxes)
• three coordinating tea towels
• baking utensils as decorations
• ribbon and other embellishments.

 Step One:
You need two pieces of cardboard. I used two cereal boxes, flattened them and cut two strips.
Strip One: 5 inches wide by 17 inches long.
Strip Two: 7 inches wide by 14 inches long.
  Step Two:
Bend the strips into a circle and secure with hot glue. I used clothes pin to hold it while it was drying.
(You will have one fat cylinder and one tall cylinder)
 Step Three:
You'll want to wash and iron your tea towels. I bought these three coordinating green and brown tea towels at TJ Max for $4.00
 Step four:
Now for covering your cardboard. Fold your tea towel (I folded mine into thirds), and wrap it around the cardboard and secure with one pin in the back. Repeat with your other piece of cardboard.

  Step Five:
I pulled my tea towel straight off of my cardboard and set it aside. I then glued my fat cylinder to my cake base. Then I placed my cylinder tea towel over the cardboard and pinned it in the back. I used a total of four pins on it.
  Step Six:
Pull the tea towel half way up your skinny cylinder. Hot glue the bottom of your skinny cylinder and place it in the center of the fat cylinder. Push your tea towel down just a little bit.
 Step Seven:
Stuff your third towel in the top of your tall cylinder and fluff to make pretty. Now decorate with baking utensils, bows and whatever else you want!
