Spring into your beauty routine

Brush Up: Did you know you need to clean your makeup brushes at least ONCE a Month! Seriously you do, and if you haven't shame on you.
• side note: here is how I clean my brushes I squirt a small amount of shampoo in a cup (baby shampoo works best, but any "high-end" shampoo - bedhead etc will work also) fill with warm water and dip my brushes in and then take out and work my fingers into the brush so that they are clean thoroughly. I rinse them with luke warm water and place on a towel to dry.

That's so last year: Have sunscreen or products with SPF in them that are over a year old? Toss them. When sunscreen goes bad it makes you susceptible to getting burnt and also leaves your skin vulnerable. This could lead to sunspots, cancer, wrinkles and all the things you should avoid.
• side note: Usually you can tell when your makeup has gone bad because the color, smell or consistency will change. Mineral makeup usually doesn't go bad.

SPFin' it up: Wear it embrace it love it.

Oil Spill: While thick creams work in the winter they are just not what you want on your face during the summer. Unless clogged pores are your thing. During spring you should try an oil-free product that is light weight, moisturizes and won't cause break outs.

A natural glow: Lady Gaga says "I was born this way", and she's right we are all gorgeous so why not embrace your beauty. Lighten up your load when it comes to foundation, eye shadow and blush this season.
 Pop!: Straight from the runway to you it's time to give your lips an electric pop this season. Search for bold colors to pamper your pout. Definitely invest in a peach, mango or tangerine shade as well as a pink or coral.

Baked Cake Donuts


Baked Cake Donuts
1 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
1.5 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon cold butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg

donut glaze:
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup powdered sugar

• Preheat oven to 350.
• In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut the butter into small pieces and work it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips, until the mixture looks like sand. Set aside.
• In a small bowl, mix together the buttermilk, vanilla and egg. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Spoon into a greased doughnut pan
• Bake for 15 minutes.
• Let cool and mix together glaze ingredients. Drizzle glaze over doughnuts and top with rainbow sprinkles if desired.

Apple Butter Pound Cake

Apple Butter Pound Cake 
1.5 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup Musslemen's Apple Butter
3 eggs
• Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a loaf pan (one large or two small).
• In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and salt.  Set aside.
• In a large bowl cream butter and sugar for a full 9 minutes. (it should a light in color and fluffy.)
•  Add eggs into butter mixture one at a time beating the mixture in between.
• Add the apple butter and vanilla. 
• Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in three increments, beating only until it is just combined after each addition.
• Pour batter into pans, and tap to release bubbles.
Bake for 20-50 minutes depending on your pan size. Basically you want to bake until cake tester inserting in the center comes out clean.

Luminous Lashes

Yes, that is a small tube of mascara. I have extremely sensitive eyes, and have to change my mascara every month. My current favorite mascara is Benefit Bad Gal Lash, and since it is $19 a tube and I waste most of it I buy samples from Benefit bars. The samples usually cost me $9 a piece.

Being 25 is off to a good start

Well as I mentioned I was completely depressed about turning 25. It's just a depressing number for me at least. However my birthday was absolutely amazing, and will be even better when I head to Michigan on Wednesday! I am so excited to go home.... i`ll be getting "my mummie" cake from my Mum as well. My mum has made me a birthday cake every year,  sometimes it's before my birthday and sometimes it's after. But every year I get one! :]

As a kid birthday's were always something I looked forward to. A beautiful cake made by my Mum with love. From a telephone cake to hello kitty and everything in between, my Mum definitely had her work cut out for her come my birthday. Gifts usually consisted of Barbie's, and  birthday's were fun. This year it's depressing. Turning 25... being half way to 50... honestly where has the time gone?

{The Renaissance}
The Renaissance is a medium lavender shade that reminds me of grape pop. Usually I am not a huge purple fan, but this color is very pretty. Outside in the sun it's beyond gorgeous.

{Forget me Never}
Forget me Never is a very bright pink creme. I am thinking this is going to be my go to color during summer. Against tan skin it would be beyond gorgeous.
{Don't Think Twice}
Don't Think Twice is a deep concrete gray. You know I love my taupes and grays this color definitely did not let me down it's absolutely fabulous. When i wore this to the mall a lot of people were asking me what color I had on my nails.
{Almost in Love}
Almost in Love is a cotton candy pink. Two years ago I was looking EVERYWHERE for a cotton candy pink shade. I had found multiple "cotton candy" colors but none were at up to my standard. That is until now.... Almost in Love is the PERFECT cotton candy pink. If you love pink this is a must have in your collection.
{Release My Heart}
Release My Heart is a pale apricot pink hue. For spring nudes are definitely the "in" shade. This is one of the most gorgeous nudes that I have come across.
{Romeo and Juliet}
Romeo and Juliet is a pearly white. It's a fun color to layer over other polishes.

My overall thoughts
I am loving the collection. I am a girly girl and while I love my dark polishes during autumn come spring and some of summer I am all about the intimate colors. Since I am a pink girl my favorite color in the collection is  Almost in Love I will definitely have it on my nails for a good portion of spring.  I am also loving Forget me Never for summer. Of course Release My Heart is my current favorite nude color out of all the ones that I own. So overall this is one of my favorite collections out this year.

I have always been one who would gravitate towards a more natural looking lip, and finally this year it can be found everywhere. Great Grandma's Peanut Butter Fudge

Great Grandma's Peanut Butter Fudge
2 cups granulated white sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 cup Jif peanut butter
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Lightly butter a 8x8 glass dish. Place Jif and vanilla into a mixing bowl. In a saucepan, bring sugar and milk to a rolling boil, boil for exactly one minute.

Pour milk mixture over Jif and vanilla. Beat until thick, about one minute. Pour into your greased pan. Cool completely and cut into squares.
