Sometimes you just can't come up with a gift idea for someone. Homemade gifts are always great options. Why not make a no-sew blanket for someone you love?

Select two different fleeces. I always choose a solid and a patterned. This one has a brown solid(the bottom) and a heart pattern (the top). The amount of fleece fabric you get depends on how large you would like to make the blanket. For this blanket I bought 1.5 yards of each fabric. This size makes for a great lap blanket. *Note my fleece fabric was bought at Joann Fabrics*
Lay your fleece fabrics on top of each other. Be sure that the more brightly colored sides face out.

Cut out a 5x5 inch square from each corner.

Now cut approximately 1 inch strips along the entire blanket.

Once your have cut your one inch strips it's time to tie.
Tie the corner strips together first using a simple knot to attach the bottom layer to the top layer.
You are basically tying one on either side of the cut out square until it looks like the above picture. Than proceed to do the same to all corners of the blanket.
After the corners are done tie the rest of the blanket.
I love that homemade blanket idea:) Each year I made homemade cookie jars for our friends and family:) Its a little Christmas tradition, we have:)

ReplyDeletealso, (+3) you're on my blogroll!
Alouette always has the best flavors!
ReplyDeleteI'm not very crafty, so it's probably for the best that I don't make any homemade gifts. I can make homemade cards though!
That's adorable! I love making gifts but I'm not super-crafty so it usually ends up being piles and piles and piles of cookies and brownies and stuff like that!
ReplyDeleteOoh, so creative! I'm not so great at fabric, sewing or anything of that sort, and tend to make jewelry pieces for friends (bending wires feels much easier :))
ReplyDeleteI have made homemade candy in the past to give away as gifts.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
We have a blanket like that! Love it.
ReplyDeleteThat is the best gift!! Not only is it a personal gift (because you handcrafted it) but it is so cute and looks cozy! Love it. How cute would one of those be in leopard?! hmmm.xo

ReplyDeleteOMGosh.....you are so talented!! Have a FAB DAY!
ReplyDeleteI made blankets like that a couple Christmases ago. They were a huge hit. Only problem I had was after a few weeks the ties started to come loose. Major bummer. Oh well, I guess I need more blanket practice.
ReplyDeleteCool giveaway. I love cheese.
that's such a great idea! oh btw, thanks for following!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blanket instructions. I bought the fleece for my son's college the other day, and want to put one together for him for Christmas. In the past, I've made photo albums, cookies, and even pillowcases for the family. So, I'm always looking for new ideas to make.

Homemade gifts = cookies in my household! This is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLove this blanket! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing homemade is calendars or scrapbooks. They don't always turn out all that great but I think people enjoy something handmade so much!
pretty sure I just drooled on my laptop over the cheese. Each year I do a homemade ornament for friends and family. This year I am also doing gingerbread biscotti and peppermint cookies + cream bark for coworkers.
ReplyDeleteI follow you as Thifa. I like making my own cards and have already sent out mine for this year.

ReplyDeleteI definitely don't do homemade gifts, since I may just be the most un-crafty person in the world.
ReplyDeleteU know you would look hot in that dress : ) dont be silly! One time when I come home, which I will be alot in the new year, we should meet up and do lunch or something!
ReplyDeleteCute blanket!
ReplyDeleteI just recently made homemade ornaments that I'm giving to some friends and family (it's tomorrow's blog post).
