A Michigan Summer at the Orchard

Even though I spent my whole life in Michigan I still appreciate the beauty the surrounds me. I honestly don't think Michigan gets enough credit for it's beauty and what it is able to offer. During the summer there are many roadside stands filled with fabulous produce. Or you can drive out to a local farm and go pick your produce. During the summer months Michigan grows anything from raspberries, peaches and corn to cantaloupe, watermelon and tomatoes. If you can grow it you can get it here, well unless it's coconuts, pineapple, oranges or lemons. We can't grow those here. During the fall you can go to the farm and pick your own pumpkins or apples. You can stand anywhere in Michigan and be six miles away from clean water. It's a luxurious life us Michiganders have been able to live.

{Mummie and I went and picked some FABULOUS sweet and juicy peaches}

{honey. I bought the Michigan made honey with Traverse City cherries...fab!}

What is your favorite thing about where you live?

  1. Look at all that fresh fruit. Yum. I think one thing I enjoy most is that it's a large enough city, but we still have access to outdoor activities like hiking, boating, canoeing, etc. Sort of the best of both worlds.

  3. Your pics are lovely. That fruit looks so yummy too.

    I live in NYC so I have a lot of things I love and a lot I don't love so much. Favorite thing would be the amazing restaurants and shopping and the parks. I also love that you can walk virtually everywhere.

  4. Pretty delishy fruit!!

    My favorite thing about where I live...hmmm...I like that we have a few farms in the area, even though I should go out to the country more to take advantage of the REAL farms... rely on whole foods to gather all the local produce we have around here...if I had the time, I'd travel to all the farms and do my shopping!

  9. It's so hard to pick a favorite here! We're on the coast which means fresh seafood and beach days. That's definitely a good point.

  10. I would love to be able to pick fresh produce like that. In Vegas, places like that are pretty hard to find. We do a farmer's market that I heard was really neat but I haven't checked it out.

  13. Those peaches look delicious! I've been on a peach kick lately and I love that they're on sale everywhere right now. But I'm sure the peaches I buy in the store don't compare to these. :)
